Re: [daw-mac] Re: Can someone get Avid to "Commit..." ???

OK, so I thought about it...

The MUTE button in PT  is the equivalent of a switch on a console, cutting the signal in and out.  You don't see the fader jumping up and down who you hit it or  write mute automation?  It also has it's own automation graphic lane.

The reason it made me think it's not a smart thing was because I had a mix going with the fader set at a certain position when I decided to do that.  I had to move the fader to unity gain since I didn't want that level rendered in the committed file, check "Volume and Mute" button in the Commit dialog window, run the process, then reset the volume to where it was.

Not the end of the world, I suppose, but seems bass ackwards.  A separate check buttons for Volume and Mute would be really cool.

Best,
Arthur

Here's a wild guess… Because:
"Mute On" is actually  "Volume = 0" and
"Mute Off" is actually  "Volume = return to the previous setting"

In other words, there is no actual "Mute". It's only a shortcut label for convenience. Think about it. How else would you implement it? There's nothing like a hardware switch to turn on or off that exists in addition to a volume "fader"..
