Depending on how paranoid one is about "big brother" surveilance, "no problem" might be a bit cavalier. It IS interesting that Apple Pay is promoted as a way to prevent merchants from learning how to target you with marketing, yet Apple wants your credit card number when you download something free. They'll have to stake a position more firmly on this privacy business if they really mean it, in my view.

I just say "Citizen 4" about Ed Snowden. One vignette involves a EFF (Electronic Freedom Foundation) speaker talking about the "free" electronic surveilance available to commercial and government agencies becuase of ID cards and credit cards. The example he used was a person who uses his bank card to buy his monthly subway pass. Linking those two bits of identifier data, one can trace a typical New Yorker's daily movements, purchasing habits, and changes that fall way outside his usual customs. For me, THAT's the big deal about Apple Pay.
